Storm protection that's already in place

Accordion shutters fold beside each opening all year and slide closed when a storm is coming — no panels to store, no ladder work in the wind.

What the job covers

Shutters count as hurricane protection only when they're an approved product, installed exactly to that approval, with the permit inspected. That's the part of the job we take responsibility for.

  • Accordion shutters for windows, sliding doors, entry doors and balconies.
  • Approved systems for your location's wind requirements.
  • Measured and fabricated per opening, mounted to the approval's anchoring schedule.
  • Center-lock and keyed options, including locks you can operate from inside.
  • Repairs to existing shutters: stuck blades, broken locks, missing hardware.
  • Permit pulled under our building certification, inspection passed, permit closed.

Why the approval and the permit matter

Hurricane shutters need the product approval your county requires — Miami-Dade NOA in Miami-Dade and Broward (the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone), Florida Product Approval elsewhere — and many cities require a permit and inspection.

Final Touch Builders installs under Florida Certified Building Contractor CBC1265305 and leaves you with a closed permit, which also helps at a wind-mitigation inspection.

You can verify both certifications at Florida DBPR.

Accordion shutter questions

Do accordion shutters need a permit?
In many Florida cities, yes. The installation is inspected against the product's approval. We pull the permit.
Accordion shutters or impact windows?
Impact windows protect without any action and cost more; accordion shutters cost less but have to be closed before a storm. We install both and will give you a straight comparison for your home.
Can shutters help with insurance?
Approved protection on every opening can qualify for a wind-mitigation credit with many insurers. Ask your insurer how they apply it.
